Learning the Nepali Language
The Nepali or Nepalese language is a member of the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European language family.
It is official language of Nepal and is also spoken in neighboring Bhutan, areas of India and in Myanmar (Burma). India recognizes it as one of its official languages. Nepali has official language status in the state of Sikkim and in West Bengal’s Darjeeling area. It is widely spoken in the state of Uttaranchal, as well as in the state of Assam.
From a geographical standpoint, the Nepali language is the easternmost of the Pahari languages. These languages are a group of related languages spoken along the Himalayan mountain range. This region includes the eastern Nepal through the Indian states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. .
